Why organise a mentoring event?
To enable conference participants to meet one another, to help mentees find an external contact with whom they can discuss their career aspirations, questions and challenges, and to allow mentors to share their experience.
Mentoring is:
- A dialogue: Mentees discuss their plans, ideas and doubts with their mentor. Mentors offer advice to help mentees find their way.
- Knowledge-sharing: Mentors share their experience so that mentees are better prepared for the norms of their working environment.
- Support: Mentors guide mentees in their thinking and provide them with the tools to make their own choices. Mentors do not ‘direct’ mentees, but help them find their own path.
And in practical terms during the conference?
A meeting slot is scheduled at lunchtime, in a dedicated space.
To facilitate discussions and meetings, mentors will be asked to provide a short CV upon registration, which will be displayed at the entrance to the mentoring area. This will allow mentees to get a quick overview of the profiles of those present as soon as they arrive. As a mentee, you can also bring a CV if you wish to discuss your career aspirations.
Discussions initiated during these sessions can be continued afterwards, at a pace and in a way that suits you best.
Registration
Whether you wish to participate in the mentoring session as a mentor or a mentee, you can register for it at the same time as you register for the conference, via the dedicated registration form below (no extra charge).
