Given the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have decided to postpone the 5th European Conference of the PHM Society to 2021. However, we remain committed to the timely dissemination of knowledge and networking for PHM research and applications. So we are examining the feasibility of a virtual PHME conference in 2020 to best meet the goals of PHME20 – so you can share and discuss your paper and work under preparation this year.
Now, we would like to know how many of you would consider participating in this “virtual” event as presenter, attendee or helping with the event. Here is how we think it will work:
For the authors of accepted papers, we will invite you to record in advance from your office or your home, a 20-min video using a very to use tool which can mix automatically the PowerPoint slides and their verbal and visual presentation. We will collect all of these presentations and organize a schedule for the attendees to view. So your polished presentation will be available for all of the attendees to view and study – so even better than the physical conference.
For the registered attendees, they will have links to watch the presentations which will be available online during a limited time from the conference web site. And, for those who want to network with the authors and the other attendees, they will be invited to attend a webinar for that paper session according to a precise schedule and discuss through a chat room at the end of each 1-hour session.
So the previously planned 3-day conference will now be spread over a few weeks to still allow people to work and have time to examine and discuss the great PHM knowledge being documented now. It might have tutorials and keynotes also.
You are important to our planning – for the conference content and to be part of the ‘networking’. To help finalize our virtual conference plan, we are launching this poll to estimate how many would participate:
Thank you for your help to enrich our PHM community during this difficult time.
